The Top 5 B2B eCommerce Platforms of 2026

Four of the five best B2B eCommerce platforms changed something material this year: pricing structure, plan tiers, deployment model, or product name. Most comparison guides still in circulation were written before June. If you are shortlisting a platform right now, start by checking what each vendor changed while you were shortlisting.

A Flat Market With a Fast Lane

US manufacturing and wholesale distribution sales reached $15.12 trillion in 2025 and grew just 0.4%. B2B eCommerce inside that total grew 13%, to $2.93 trillion. More than 90% of B2B transactions are now electronic (Digital Commerce 360, 2026).

That gap is the whole story. Growth is not coming from a bigger market. It is coming from orders leaving phone, fax, email, and field sales, which means every point of digital share you gain, a competitor loses. The difference is consequential: in a growing market a mediocre storefront still collects orders, and in a flat one it quietly bleeds them.

What the Gap Means for You

If your buyers already order online somewhere, the only question is whether they do it on your site or on someone else’s. About 39% of B2B buyers now place orders over $500,000 through self-service channels, up from 28% two years earlier (McKinsey Global B2B Pulse). They arrive expecting the self-service they get as consumers.

Why 2026 Was Different

Platform economics stopped being fixed. BigCommerce restructured plans, thresholds, and fees with 60 days notice. Shopify moved core B2B features down to cheaper plans. Adobe added a third deployment model and a support cutoff date. Together they mean your cost model needs a repricing scenario in it.

The Five Best B2B eCommerce Platforms at a Glance.

Shopify Plus

Fastest path to market for mid-market brands running wholesale and DTC together. The Spring ’26 Edition, released June 18, moved company profiles, volume pricing, and up to three B2B catalogs onto Basic, Grow, and Advanced at no extra cost. Plus still holds unlimited catalogs, company-level pricing, deposits, and deeper checkout control. From $2,300 per month on an annual contract.

BigCommerce B2B Edition

Strong multi-storefront and API foundations for headless builds. B2B Edition and B2B price lists live only on the Performance tier, which starts at $1,499 per month billed annually. The new Open Payment Provider Fee negotiates to zero on Performance contracts, so the June change lands hardest on self-service merchants rather than the B2B buyers this paper is about.

Adobe Commerce

The deepest native B2B feature set here: company accounts, negotiable quotes, requisition lists, and multi-level approval chains, all without extensions. It now runs three ways (PaaS, Cloud Service, and Optimizer), so naming the deployment model matters as much as naming the platform. Highest cost of ownership on PaaS.

Salesforce Agentforce Commerce

Formerly Salesforce B2B Commerce Cloud. Generally available since late June, with a B2B Buyer Agent that completes contract-priced reorders over WhatsApp and SMS without a portal login. Worth the cost if you already run Sales Cloud or Service Cloud. Hard to justify if you do not.

OroCommerce

Purpose-built for manufacturers and distributors, with commerce, CRM, CPQ, invoicing, and payments under one license and no per-site fees. Version 7.0 added AI co-pilots at no extra licensing cost. OroMomentum, announced September 1, targets the platform’s oldest complaint: implementation cost.

What the BigCommerce Repricing Actually Did

On June 1 BigCommerce renamed every plan and cut the GMV ceilings that trigger an automatic tier upgrade. Same revenue, higher plan.

BigCommerce GMV thresholds before and after the June 2026 repricing. Core $50K to $30K. Growth $180K to $100K. Scale $400K unchanged.

How to Read the Costs

Entry price is the least predictive number in a platform evaluation. The license is usually 20% to 40% of what you actually spend.

A useful rule from this year’s cost benchmarking: budget two to three times your platform license as the real annual run rate, once you add hosting, extensions, a maintenance retainer, and security patching. A $50,000 Adobe Commerce quote realistically becomes $122,000 to $200,000 (Elogic Commerce, 2026).

Then watch for the costs that never appear on a pricing page. App subscriptions on Shopify can pass the platform fee at scale. Agentforce capability on Salesforce is priced separately from commerce, and most advanced deployments need Data Cloud underneath. Adobe has still published no dollar figures for its Cloud Service tier, so any ACCS number you have been quoted is worth pressure-testing.

None of this makes any platform the wrong choice. It makes a three-year model the only honest way to compare them.

The Numbers That Matter

$2.93T

US B2B eCommerce sales in 2025, up 13% year over year.

0.4%

Growth in total US manufacturing and wholesale sales over the same period.

90%+

Share of B2B transactions that are now electronic rather than manual.

73%

Share of B2B buying committees made up of millennials.

$1,499

Monthly starting price, billed annually, of the only BigCommerce tier carrying B2B Edition.

Three Checks Before You Sign

Re-run any comparison built before June. Plan names, GMV thresholds, fee structures, and feature gating all moved this year. That applies to vendor-published comparisons as much as third-party ones.

Model a repricing scenario. Ask what happens if the vendor changes fees, thresholds, or supported versions mid-contract. Two of these five did exactly that in the last eighteen months, and Adobe has set June 1, 2027 as the date it stops maintaining Cloud environments on unsupported versions.

Audit what an agent can see. If you run wholesale and DTC in the same store, verify which catalogs and price lists are excluded from agentic surfaces, and test the exclusions rather than trusting the settings. Shopify turned agentic storefronts on by default for eligible US merchants in March, and its own guidance warns that exclusion logic may miss custom B2B setups built with apps or theme edits.

Our take, after a year of building on these platforms: most B2B merchants do better getting the right SaaS platform implemented well than buying a self-managed platform they cannot staff. The exception is genuine B2B complexity, where native RFQ, CPQ, and multi-tier account hierarchies sit at the center of how buyers order. For those teams, Adobe Commerce or OroCommerce earns its cost. For everyone else, Shopify Plus and BigCommerce B2B Edition cover the ground.

Three-year total cost of ownership for the best B2B eCommerce platforms. Shopify Plus $100K to $300K. BigCommerce B2B Edition $150K to $400K. OroCommerce $350K to $900K. Adobe Commerce PaaS $400K to $1M. Salesforce Agentforce $500K to $1.5M.
