MYNT

MYNT is a house brand of Ready Set Import, a Beverly Hills importer of dental and medical supplies. The catalog runs past 400 SKUs across thirteen categories, from instruments and disposables to infection control and orthodontics. MYNT was built to sell direct to the practices that use these products every day. Its website was not.

The Challenge

MYNT’s site was built as a catalog, not a store. Add to cart had been switched off deliberately, so the brand would not look like it was competing with the distributors it was recruiting. Product pages ended in a PDF sales sheet. Prices were placeholders. When direct sales were needed, the site could not take a single order.

The Solution

BlueBolt rebuilt the storefront inside MYNT’s existing Shopify store using a third-party theme made for large catalogs. We applied a brand style guide, restored add to cart and checkout, configured customer accounts, reorganized thirteen categories into a working mega menu, and installed the app and sales-channel layer behind it. The new theme went live four weeks after signature.

A catalog site pretending to be a store

None of this happened by accident. MYNT turned off commerce on purpose, back when the priority was recruiting distributors. That decision made sense at the time, and it quietly hardened into the site’s architecture. Pricing drifted out of date and accounts were never configured because nobody was logging in. Then the business model changed faster than the website could, and every deliberate constraint became an obstacle. The team did not need a redesign. They needed the store turned on.

Pain Points

  • Add to cart disabled sitewide
  • Product pages ended in a PDF
  • Nowhere for email traffic to land
  • No branded account or order history
  • 400+ SKUs behind one dropdown

The Solution

Shopify Theme choice

A theme built for big catalogs

BlueBolt evaluated the Shopify theme market against one hard requirement: hold up at 400 SKUs without custom code. We chose one based on catalog density, native filtering, and the left-side category navigation MYNT asked for by name. We ruled out the B2B portal themes, which would have fought the business model, and the marketplace-style themes, which needed weeks of setup MYNT did not have.

A storefront that takes orders

We re-enabled add to cart, normalized the checkout flow, and configured Shopify’s current customer account model with proper order history and tracking. Thirteen categories were reorganized into an alphabetical mega menu with the empty collections stripped out. Body text moved to a darker neutral for legibility, product cards and PDP layouts were adjusted, and the newsletter drawer was cut down through custom CSS.

The apps behind the scenes

The integration layer behind the store

Klaviyo, ShipStation, QuickBooks, PayWhirl subscriptions, Smile loyalty, a Hextom free-shipping bar, and Shopify Inbox were installed and configured to sit coherently inside the theme. Shopify Marketplace Connect opened the path to Walmart, Target Plus, and eBay. The subscription plan was applied across 110 products. Shipping was configured for 49 states plus Washington DC.

Why product data decides what sells

During the go-live session, color swatches were missing across part of the catalog. The cause was structural: those products used a single combined “Size and Color” option instead of two separate ones, which breaks the variant grouping Shopify’s filtering depends on. Splitting the options restored the swatches without changing the variant count, and it also cleared the way for sales-channel feeds, search visibility, and AI shopping agents that read product structure directly.

Why Shopify was the Right Choice

Mynt had been burned before by custom code that made later integrations harder. Shopify let us solve that by building almost nothing custom at all.

Native by default

Nearly every requirement mapped to something Shopify already does. Less custom code means fewer things that break when the platform updates.

A theme, not a build

A third-party Shopify theme handled a 400-SKU catalog on day one. No template system to invent, and no design phase to fund.

Channels without rework

Shopify's own connectors reach Google, Walmart, Target Plus, and eBay. A clean catalog is the only prerequisite, so new channels do not mean new architecture.

Handed back, not held

Copy edits, product data, and app settings all live in the Shopify admin. MYNT's team runs the store without filing a ticket to change a word.
